Notice of Nomination

ELECTION DAY – Monday, October 24, 2022

Anyone proposing to be a candidate in the municipal election to be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 for the Township of Chatsworth may file a nomination form for the offices of:

Municipal Council
Mayor (1 to be elected)
Deputy Mayor (1 to be elected)
Councillor (3 to be elected)

School Board Trustees
English Public – Bluewater District School Board (1 to be elected)
The Township of Georgian Bluffs is responsible for conducting the election for the Townships of Chatsworth and Georgian Bluffs

English Separate – Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board (1 to be elected)
The Town of Saugeen Shores is responsible for conducting the election for the Townships of Aran-Elderslie, Chatsworth, Georgian Bluffs, Saugeen Shores and Town of South Bruce Penninsula

French Public – Conseil Scolaire Viamonde (1 to be elected)
The City of Barrie is responsible for conducting the election for the Counties of Bruce, Dufferin, Grey and Simcoe
Nominations to be filed with the Clerk, City of Barrie.  Please visit  www.barrie.ca

French Separate – Conseil Scolaire Catholique (1 to be elected)
The City of Woodstock is responsible for conducting the election for the Counties of Oxford, Grey & Perth
Nominations to be filed with the Clerk, City of Woodstock. Please visit  www.cityofwoodstock.ca 

For the office of Trustees, if the distance between the residence of a person seeking nomination and the office of the school board election Clerk with whom nominations must be filed is greater than 100 kilometers, the necessary nomination papers may be filed with the Clerk of the Township of Chatsworth.

Prescribed Nomination forms and other candidate forms are to be filed with the Township of Chatsworth Clerk at the Municipal office located at 316837 Highway 6, Chatsworth, during regular office hours, Monday to Friday, commencing Monday, May 2nd , 2022 until the closing of nominations at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 (Nomination Day). 

The Term of Office for the offices listed above will be from November 15, 2022  to November 14, 2026.

Nomination papers for candidates are available at the Township Office or on the Township’s website at www.chatsworth.ca.  Candidates must submit the prescribed nomination and endorsement forms, proof of qualifying address and payment of the appropriate nomination filing fee in cash, debit, certified cheque or money order (made payable to the “Township of Chatsworth”).  Nomination fees are as follows:  $200.00 for the office of Mayor and $100.00 for all other offices.

No person who proposes to be a candidate may solicit or accept contributions for election purposes or incur campaign expenses until he or she has filed a nomination paper.
