2024 Comprehensive Zoning By-law Review

Every property within the Township of Chatsworth is subject to policies contained within the Comprehensive Zoning By-law.

A zoning by-law contains provisions that regulate the use, size, height, density and location of buildings on properties throughout the municipality.  The by-law consists of maps to show what zone each property is in and the permitted uses for each zone.

The Township is currently reviewing the Comprehensive By-law to ensure that it aligns with the County of Grey Official Plan and Provincial Policy Statement.  Some of the considerations in the new by-law include allowing for more than one residence on certain properties.  Once Council has reviewed the by-law in its entirety, a Notice of Public Meeting will be held to receive comments and feedback from our residents and agencies.

You can look at the current zoning on your property by looking at the Grey County Public GIS site https://maps.grey.ca.  Once you find your property, you can determine the zoning. You can review the zoning By-law to determine the permitted uses and/or restrictions associated with your property within the designated zone.  The restrictions include height of buildings, set backs to property lines, parking requirements, etc.  The comprehensive zoning review does not change the zoning on your property. ; If you have site specific zoning on your property, that will not be removed without your written permission.

To date Council has had two special meetings to review the zoning by-law.  Additional meetings are scheduled for April 24, May 22 and June 26, all beginning at 4:00 p.m.

These meeting are open to the public and all are welcome.
